WVU Medicine CCMC Health and Wellness Day set for August 11 at Grand Central Mall

WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center’s 2018 Health and Wellness Day is set for August 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

More than 75 exhibitors are expected to participate in this year’s community-wide event dedicated to educating and informing area residents of innovations and enhancements being made at the hospital as well as to improving and maintaining health and wellness for families of all ages. Representatives from hospital service lines and departments such as Primary Care, Pharmacy, Cardiology, Radiology, Pulmonology and Lifetime Partners are just a few of the many departments participating. Outside vendors such as Skilled Nursing Care Facilities and Elder Care, Rehabilitation Therapy Services, Audiologists, and health and wellness companies from across the Mid-Ohio Valley will also be participating.

A variety of free health screenings will offered that day including EKG’s, blood pressure readings, bone density scans, among others in addition to an opportunity to receive vouchers for reduced-cost lab screenings. And attendees can get low cost lab work vouchers to use that day or for the next 30 days at one of the hospitals diagnostic centers .blood screening discounts.

To promote healthy habits, a kick-off walk around the mall will take place at 9:15 a.m. with Soul Mates participants, physicians, and personnel from WVU Medicine, Highmark West Virginia and the Grand Central Mall, each sponsors of the Soul Mates walking program.

A variety of demonstrations will take place during the Health and Wellness Day at the SEARS court of the mall, including exercise classes, cooking demos, and entertainment provided by the Jump Rope Company USA and the Premier Twirlers, to name a few. In addition, outside the J. C. Penney main entrance, there will be 5 food trucks and the baby/child seat fitting station for patrons to visit and ensure they have properly installed their safety equipment.

Attendees will also benefit from extra discounts during the traditional back to school shopping season provided by the Grand Central Mall and their merchants.
