WVU Medicine Camden Clark Announces Joan Kreyenbuhl, CSJ as newest member of hospital board of directors

Parkersburg W.Va - WVU Medicine Camden Clark Health Services, Inc (CCHS) today announced that Sister Joan Kreyenbuhl has been named the eighth member of the hospital’s board of directors. A native of West Virginia, she entered the founding Congregation of Wheeling, WV on September 8, 1963. Her education background includes a BA in Political Science with minors in History and Education from Wheeling Jesuit University and a Master’s Degree in Theology and Education from St. Louis University. She completed additional certifications in Health Care Leadership, Bioethics, Catechetics and Spiritual Direction.

"Sister Joan’s immense experience in healthcare, leadership and knowledge of the communities and area families we serve will be a true asset to our existing board, "said Steve Altmiller, president and CEO of WVU Medicine Camden Clark. "I am very proud that she is joining us and our seven existing board members who are excellent in their work and commitment to our mission, vision and values."

In 1989 she began the Mission Effectiveness Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg and served in that position for 22 years. She also served on the Board of Directors at St. Joseph’s as well as at St. Francis of Charleston and United Hospital Center in Clarksburg and was Chair of St. Joseph’s Ethics Committee. She has served on Catholic Charities Diocesan Board, the Board of the Mid-Ohio Valley Fellowship Home, the ARC Board, Good Samaritan Clinic and she was active in the Parkersburg Rotary. Sr Kreyenbuhl retired from Camden Clark Medical Center in 2011. Following a Sabbatical opportunity, Joan was elected to serve a five year term on the Leadership Team of the Congregation of Saint Joseph whose Motherhouse in located at Rocky River in Cleveland, Ohio.

"I look forward to contributing my experiences to helping the hospital meet the needs of those we serve and renewing friendships with the community at large. I appreciate the opportunity to work with this team of leaders."

Her previous ministry has included teaching and work with elementary and high school students in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, including Parkersburg Catholic. She also served as

Director of Religious Education for 15 years in the Wheeling area in a variety of parish ministries and involvement with children and adult formation.

Sister Joan enjoys travel, reading, flower gardening, and family, who mostly live in Doddridge, Lewis and Harrison County, West Virginia. She continues to remain active in her parish of St. Margaret Mary.
