Walk to benefit breast cancer research at WVU

Pro-Performance sponsors Walktober

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Pro Performance Rx, an indoor athletic training and rehabilitation facility in Morgantown, is challenging its membership to walk 50 miles during Walktober, which will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Program at West Virginia University.

Fifty miles is the distance from Morgantown to Canaan Valley. Member participants will have the chance to win various prizes, including a weekend getaway to Canaan Valley Resort. They may also do alternative forms of exercise for 30 minutes, which is the equivalent of one mile walked.

“Pro Performance is all about health. We are proud to join the fight against breast cancer by supporting research to find a cure for the disease,” Pro Performance General Manager Robert Dunlevy said. “Many people in the community have benefitted from the care they received at WVU’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, and we want to support local research efforts.”

The money generated through the event will come from sponsorships and donations obtained by participating members. In addition, Pro Performance is selling breast cancer awareness T-shirts for $15 each and donating all of those proceeds to WVU’s Breast Cancer Research Program.
