Ohio Valley Friends of WVU Medicine Children’s heading ‘Under the Big Top’ for annual gala

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Ohio Valley Friends of WVU Medicine Children’s will be gathering “Under the Big Top” for the 12th annual gala fundraiser, which will be held on Aug. 13 in the Glessner Auditorium at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling.

The black-tie-optional event will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. A plated dinner will be served at 7 p.m., at which time the program also begins. During the program, Tridelphia resident Bill Fisher, chief finance officer for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, will receive this year’s Community Service Award, and the miracle story of Ohio Valley-area patient Kailynn VanCamp will be told.

The program will be followed by a live auction, and then, at 7:30 p.m., The Move Makers Band will take the stage and gala attendees will hit the dance floor.

Net proceeds from the event will support the WVU Medicine Children’s Transport Team. In 2015, 41 children were transported to WVU Medicine Children’s by the Pediatric Transport Team, marking a 50 percent increase over the previous year’s transports.

Hartley and O’Brien, PLLC, is this year’s title sponsor.
