Congratulations to Missy Covert, Director of Rehabilitation Services, OT, MOT/L for being named as CCMC’s Leader of the Year for 2021.
Missy began her career at Camden Clark 12 years ago as an occupational therapist, became a team leader in December 2011, and then Director of Rehabilitation Services in May 2020. Missy’s department consistently receives high satisfaction scores. Her accomplishments include developing a Safe Patient Mobility Program, which improves both patient and workforce safety, and also a Music Therapy Program. She is now working to expand Rehabilitation Services into Women’s and Children’s Services, focusing on intervention with at risk newborns.
Missy is always looking for ways to better meet the needs of the community, and she has presented a business plan to develop a centralized outpatient Rehabilitation Services Clinic as part of strategic planning and future growth. Missy didn’t hesitate when asked to take on the coordination of the COVID vaccine initiative. She worked with the hospital’s internal workforce, the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, and community churches to bring the vaccine to both the community and our hospital employees. Missy works with, and is highly respected by, her peers and direct reports alike.
She is also an excellent occupational therapist and is often requested by name by patients. One of her nominations noted “I’ve called on her many times, both personally and professionally, to ask for help or advice, and she has always come through for me. She is truly a role model when it comes to demonstrating our core values.”
