Improve quality of life with mindfulness practice

Looking for alternative ways to de-stress? The Mindfulness Program offers several opportunities to enhance relaxation response, well-being, and resilience this fall.

Through May 14 the HSC Wellness Studio (G-278 Health Sciences South) will host 20-minute mindfulness meditation sessions three days a week. Meditations are led by a trio of instructors with decades of combined mindfulness experience.  Whether beginner, seasoned or somewhere in between, take time to learn and experience the numerous health benefits of regular meditation. Days and times will be as follows:

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11:15 a.m.–11:35 a.m.
  • Wednesdays from 1:15 p.m.–1:35 p.m.

Additionally, monthly mindfulness workshops are available for departments and groups interested in scheduling a private session. The hour-long workshops explore a toolbox of modern mindfulness-based techniques, such as: mindful eating, mindful movement, mindful listening and the science of mindfulness practice. Sampler workshops are designed to help participants effectively improve stress response, the result of which is a calmer, more resilient and focused mind.

All mindfulness activities are free for students, faculty, staff and employees of WVU and WVU Medicine. Contact wellness specialist Anthony Danko (Anthony.Danko@hsc.wvu.edu) for more information.
