MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia Gamers registered in Extra Life, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising program, are preparing to raise funds and awareness for WVU Medicine Children’s on Saturday (Nov. 7) – 2015’s Extra Life Game Day.
For the 24-hour fundraiser, gamers register for free at www.Extra-Life.org, select their local CMN Hospital, establish a fundraising goal, and seek donations from friends and family.
“Extra Life continues to grow because it answers a very simple question: How can I use my love of gaming to make life better for kids in my community?” Jeromy Adams, founder and managing director of Extra Life, said. “The call to give back is connecting children’s hospital advocates across North America — from families to college students and everyone in between. Play games to heal kids treated at WVU Medicine Children’s.”
Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $14 million benefiting 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across North America. West Virginia and surrounding region gamers raised more than $17,657 during last year’s game day alone. Donations stay local to the community in which they are raised and benefit WVU Medicine Children’s allowing them to help fund the Cure Kids Cancer Fund, which helps provide state-of-the-art medical care, as well as psychological and social support, for patients and their families.
