David F. Bailey named interim vice president/administrator for St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – David F. Bailey has been named the interim vice president/administrator for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. Bailey will oversee the operations of the hospital as it transitions into the United Hospital Center/WVU Medicine family.

The transfer of the hospital from the Pallottine Missionary Sisters to UHC was completed in early October and ensures that St. Joseph’s Hospital can maintain its long-term sustainability and provide patients with coordinated care when more specialized care is needed.

Bailey has served as the director of physician services at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg since 2003. He was responsible for implementing the physician recruitment plan and assisting in its development on an ongoing basis. He was the designated administrator for the hospital-owned, provider-based specialty practices in neurosurgery, ENT, urology, OB/GYN, rheumatology, pain medicine, and orthopaedics. He oversaw development of a new musculoskeletal practice as part of a total facility replacement project.

Prior to his position with UHC, he was the director of physician services and compliance officer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon from 1995 to 2003.

Bailey received his master’s degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served on the Regional Healthcare Advisory Council of the West Virginia Department of Health and Planning, the Board of Directors of the United Way of Harrison County, and was a founding member of the Rotary Club of Harrison County.

He will serve as interim vice president/administrator while a search is conducted for the position.
