Community seminar in Martinsburg to address nutrition, chronic pain

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on nutrition and chronic pain.

The seminar will be held at 7 p.m. on April 17 in the auditorium of the Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus. Guest speakers Rosemarie Cannarella Lorenzetti, M.D., M.P.H., and Catherine Feaga, D.O., will discuss how malnutrition can cause chronic pain and how proper nutrition can help treat pain disorders, such as fibromyalgia. 

Dr. Lorenzetti is a professor and Dr. Feaga an assistant professor with the WVU School of Medicine. Both are board-certified family medicine physicians. They will be joined by the MedCHEFS, third-year medical students, who will be cooking some of their favorite healthy recipes.

Registration for the mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the lecture at 7 p.m. The mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of WVU Medicine and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus.
