MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three big events are planned so that Charleston area residents can show their support for Children’s Miracle Network and West Virginia University Children’s Hospital – a bowling tournament, a party and softball tournament.
The inaugural WVU Children’s Hospital Bowling Tournament will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Town and Country Lanes in Nitro. Four-person teams can participate in the tournament for $100.
A bracket party for the second WVU Children’s Hospital Men’s Charity Softball Tournament is scheduled for 6 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Quaker Steak and Lube in South Ridge. Local country singer Adam D. Tucker of Sissonville will perform. The party will include drawings, a corn hole tournament, a silent auction and a live DJ. Quaker Steak and Lube will donate 10 percent of all sales to Children’s Miracle Network and WVU Children’s Hospital in the name of the tournament.
The softball tournament will be played Saturday, Oct. 8 and Sunday, Oct. 9 at the North Charleston ball field. Game times will be announced at the bracket party. The tournament includes a home run derby, placement hitting contest, base running competition and a 50/50 drawing. Bounce houses and face painting will be available for kids. Porky’s Party Palace will provide concessions.

A check for the funds raised at all the events will be presented during the Electric 102 and WQBE Radiothon, which will be broadcast live Oct. 13 and 14 from the Charleston Town Center Mall.
WVU Children’s Hospital is the only Children’s Miracle Network hospital in West Virginia. It provides maternal, infant and pediatric care for the entire state and the surrounding region, giving care to high-risk mothers, premature infants and children with life-threatening conditions through adolescence to adulthood.
