WVJC and PCH partner to strengthen respiratory and radiology workforce

Open House scheduled to share information about new education pathways

WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) will host an Open House with West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) on Thursday, August 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place near the hospital cafeteria, which is accessible from the main entrance.

WVJC program directors for respiratory therapy and radiology will be on-site to meet with staff, students, and community members, share information about academic programs, and provide details on student clinical rotations taking place at PCH.

Those looking for in-demand healthcare careers with training close to home are encouraged to attend to learn more.

This new partnership comes at a critical time for the region’s healthcare workforce. By rotating WVJC students through PCH, the hospital is creating a direct pathway for future respiratory therapists and radiologic technologists to gain hands-on experience and transition into local careers.

“When we have respiratory therapists trained here and invested in our community, we deliver better continuity of care and an improved patient experience. WVJC is helping us strengthen that pipeline,” said Eric Rodgers, director of respiratory care at PCH.

The event underscores PCH’s commitment to workforce development and the hospital’s focus on building a sustainable pool of highly trained healthcare professionals. In addition to learning about WVJC’s programs, attendees will have the chance to connect with admissions staff, explore educational opportunities, and understand how investing in healthcare careers directly impacts the quality of care in southern West Virginia.
