Special Events and Programs

Holiday Services

The Spiritual Care Services offer several “Holiday Services” throughout the year for our staff and patients when they can’t be home with their families on these special occasions.

Blessing of Caring Hands

Our yearly “Blessing of Caring Hands” event is a very special and touching service for our employees. Several teams of Chaplains set up mobile units throughout the hospital where employees from every department can come and have their hands blessed and prayed over. We feel that our wonderful and devoted staff take such great care of the patients here at Jefferson Medical Center, that there are times that they may need a little extra something themselves. We offer this service to let our staff know that we are here for them and appreciate all the support that they give our patients.

Baby Blessing Program

One of our newest programs is our “Baby Blessing Program.” We give our new moms and dads a form to fill out before they deliver to ask if they would like a blessing given over their new bundle of joy. Our chaplains give a brief, non-denominational “blessing” service for the new family and present the parents with a framed certificate, poem, teddy bear, and a Onesee that reads “I was blessed at United Healthcare Jefferson Medical Center.”

Annual 9.11 Service

Our most attended service is our yearly 9.11 Service. Our Chaplains give tribute to the First Responders and Service men and women that served to aid those in need on 9.11. They also dedicate this service to family and friends that lost love ones as well as honor the memory of all that lost their lives on that tragic day.

Ash Wednesday Service

JMC offers an imposition of ashes to those who chose to do so on Ash Wednesday. Any employee, guest or patient is welcome to join our Chaplains in the JMC Chapel for this holy event.

Chocolate with the Chaplains

One of the JMC employee’s favorite things that our chaplains do for them here at the hospital is our “Chocolate with the Chaplains.” From time to time, our chaplains go around to the departments and share uplifting words along with a sweet treat. Chocolate just seems to put smiles on everyone’s faces.
