The Subacute Rehabilitation Unit at Garrett Regional Medical Center was recognized for the Eighth year in a row as a Best Nursing Home by U.S. News & World Report, receiving the highest possible overall rating of five stars. The Best Nursing Homes ratings highlight top nursing homes nationwide.
Garrett Regional Medical Center’s Subacute Care department is a ten-bed unit designed for patients who may fall between nursing home care and hospital care and serves between 350 to 400 patients annually.
Subacute care patients require complex care or rehabilitation. Some patients might be recovering from:
- Cardio-respiratory conditions
- Wound care
Some patients may be in need of additional services such as:
- Diabetic or colostomy education
- Occupational therapy
- Physical therapy
The Subacute Care Unit features a comfortable, home-like atmosphere with its own dining area, activity room and laundry facility to provide patients with the care and education needed to function when they return home. Subacute care offers a high intensity of nursing care designed to enable the patient to reach their highest level of function with the goal of reclaiming their independence.
