We believe cancer care goes beyond medical diagnosis and treatment. We offer an array of support services for patients and their families.
Our Pain/Palliative Care Team
The care team is available to help you and your doctor with managing pain or other side effects related to your disease or to treatments that are affecting your quality of life. Please ask a member of your healthcare team for a referral.

Some common concerns include difficulty with concentrating, anxiety, depression, anger, or dealing with the physical changes associated with your treatment. Please ask a member of your healthcare team for a referral.

Chaplain Services
Chaplains are available to assist with spiritual needs that you and your family may have. The Ruby Memorial Hospital chapel is open 24 hours a day. To speak with a chaplain, please ask any member of your healthcare team.
The Library
Patients and family members who visit the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center can get help finding resources on how to cope with the challenges of cancer at the American Cancer Society Resource Center located in the Lawson W. and Jeanne G. Hamilton Patient Resource Library. The Cancer Center has partnered with the ACS to have ACS volunteers in the library throughout the week to answer cancer-related questions and provide educational materials. This service is an extension of the Cancer Center’s comprehensive services for its patients.
Financial Counseling Services
Financial counseling is provided to help you with questions or concerns you may have about your medical bills and expenses. The counselor can provide you with information about the eligibility guidelines for the WVU Cares Program. The purpose of this program is to help uninsured or underinsured, low-income patients with their medical bills. You can speak with a financial counselor by asking any member of your healthcare team.
