It is expected that more than 97,000 new cases of colon cancer, 43,000 new cases of rectal cancer, and 26,000 new cases of gastrointestinal cancer will be diagnosed this year.
Our integrated multimodality GI clinic allows patients to have same-day consultation at one location by medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists, genetic counselors, social workers, interventional radiologists, and clinical trial specialists to provide expedited diagnosis and a patient-tailored treatment plan.
This team, along with additional healthcare specialists from diagnostic radiology, gastroenterology, and pathology, reviews and makes individualized management recommendations in our weekly GI Tumor Board meeting. We also offer novel therapeutic approaches and the most cutting-edge cancer treatments through multiple GI clinical trials available here.
Our patients also have easy access to high quality imaging studies, endoscopic imaging and interventions, novel laparoscopic and robotic surgical approaches, and state-of-the-art interventional radiology procedures. Additional areas of service include nutritional advice, financial aid, medical social workers, psycho-oncology support, pain and palliative care services, and support groups. This team approach provides quality care for patients and helps meet the needs of their families, ensuring the best outcome for patients with GI cancers.
