Dedicated to our tiniest patients.
The NICU at WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center is the only NICU affiliated with WVU Medicine Children’s other than the JW Ruby NICU in Morgantown. We are dedicated to our tiniest patients. Our neonatal team encourages parents to spend as much time as possible with their baby and to participate in care. We are a Level III NICU, based on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Guidelines for NICU level of care. Our unit includes a large nursery and separate isolation room. In addition, a parent participation room is available for an overnight stay just prior to discharge to bond and learn baby care.
Specialized care for babies born with low birth weight, prematurity and those recovering from serious conditions is now available here in the Eastern Panhandle. Just one floor away from the Birthing Center suites at Berkeley Medical Center, intensive care services are now available if your baby needs special attention. Our NICU is a family friendly atmosphere featuring a specialized team of professionals including neonatologists, neonatal hospitalists, and neonatal nurse practitioners, highly trained nursing staff, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, pharmacists and social workers. Each member of our NICU team participates in individualized care plans for each individual baby.
