Cancer Support and Education

acsr3Provided by the American Cancer Society and the University Healthcare Regional Cancer Program, cancer support and education resources are available via our Resource Room, located on the First Floor of the McCormack Center (on Berkeley Medical Center’s Campus).

Staffed by volunteers, the Resource Room offers free information on programs, services, as well as educational materials for cancer patients and their loved ones. Typical hours of operation are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 -2 p.m. or appointments may be made by calling 304-260-1477.

HEROS — Cancer Survivor/Patient Support Group

This support group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the McCormack Center in the Second Floor Conference Room at Berkeley Medical Center. For more information, call 304-260-1477 or 304-274-2723. (No meetings are held during the months of June, July and August.)

Look Good, Feel Better — FREE

Specifically targeted to women cancer patients, this program is supported by the cosmetic industry. The two-hour session allows women to be treated to a relaxing, enlightening afternoon where they learn skin care and make-up applications, as well as demonstrations on hair/wig techniques. Man to Man Prostate Cancer/Awareness Support Group

For prostate cancer patients, survivors and their spouses, this group meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the McCormack Center’s Second Floor Conference Room at Berkeley Medical Center. Call 304-260-1477 for details.

Reach to Recovery

Support services for all breast cancer diagnoses by trained volunteer breast cancer survivors. Call the American Cancer Society at (800) 227-2345 and you will be personally contacted by a local Jefferson or Berkeley County Reach to Recovery volunteer.

Road to Recovery

This service provides transportation to treatment for cancer patients. For details, call (800) 227-2345 or 304-260-1477. Volunteer drivers are also needed to accommodate our growing requests.
