Emergency Department Paramedic
Full-time
Hours: All shifts

The Licensed EMT-Paramedic provides technical basic care for patients within the Emergency Department, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff. They will follow the objectives and policies of the hospital. They are responsible for delegated care for all patients assigned to him/her by the Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse according to their scope of practice.

Responsibilities:
To assist in directing patient flow, transport patients, and set up and assist with procedures as directed. Will perform point of care testing, wound cultures, EKG’s and application of splints. Will insert and discontinue IV catheters in adults and pediatric populations. Clean and stock rooms. Will collect and convey information to RN and physician regarding the health status of patients throughout the visit. Will perform specialized work initiating emergency or appropriate care under the supervision of the ED RN. Perform other job related duties within the scope of practice approved by State of Ohio and Barnesville Hospital Emergency Department Medical Director.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of approved accredited EMT-P program
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current EMT-P license in the State of Ohio
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current PALS certification or willing to complete within six months of hire
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in healthcare, fire and/or Emergency Medical Services environment required

Emergency Department Registered Nurse
Full-Time
Hours: 12 hour PM shifts, weekend rotation

Coordinates and provides professional nursing care to individuals or groups or patients with complex needs, according to established standards and practices. Nurses care for people who are sick, injured, convalescent or disabled. Under general supervision, they deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process or assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. Nurses effectively interact with patient and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. ER Nurses provide care for patients from various types of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions.

Requirements: Ohio licensed Registered Nurse. Prefer one year of RN experience and ACLS/PALS certification, or willingness to complete. Able to function independently, prioritize, and possess critical thinking skills.

Emergency Department Technician
PRN
Hours: All shifts

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities occurring on the nursing units by assisting patients with care, performing technical, clerical and receptionist duties, and maintaining the physical environment of the area.

Requirements: Certified Medical Assistant preferred or an experienced Patient Care Assistant. High school diploma or G.E.D. Must possess good communication skills and knowledge of medical terminology. Must have the ability to function under stress and be CPR certified. Computer skills required.

Environmental Services Technician (two positions available)
Full-Time (75 hours per pay)
Hours: Full-time, 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm shift

Cleans all areas of the hospital and adjacent facilities, including carpeted and hard floor surfaces, according to hospital objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure a clean and safe environment. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Performs assigned grounds maintenance as needed. Performs project-related tasks and other duties within the department as assigned. Participates in the department’s continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Requirements: Must be able to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to clean all areas of the hospital according to objectives, policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe environment and will participate in performance improvement. Position involves being able to work on a ladder, lift up to 50 pounds, lift and move furniture and walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Housekeeping or custodial experience in a healthcare environment desired, but will train if necessary.

Licensed Practical Nurse
Full-time
Hours: 7 pm- 7 am shift

Provides professional nursing care, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, to assigned patients according to established standards and policies.

Requirements: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing, currently licensed in the State of Ohio. Must be CPR certified and be able to pass medications. Good communication skills and flexibility with scheduling required. Prefer 1 year of med/surg experience.

Patient Care Assistant

Patient Care Assistant

Hospital Pharmacist
Part-Time
Hours: Day shift, Weekend rotation

Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, and according to standard procedures, compounds and dispenses medications  upon receiving orders from physicians. Candidate may assist in retail coverage at Morristown, as needed.

Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy and licensed and registered in the State of Ohio. Previous hospital pharmacy and retail pharmacy experience preferred.

Nurse Manager – Emergency Department
Full-time (Salary position)
Hours: 24-hour accountability

Organizes, directs and coordinates all the activities of the Emergency Department. Coordinates activities/communication with Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Works collaboratively with WVUHS with telemedicine and other programs. Shares in Nursing Administration responsibilities, as needed. Shares call rotation.

Requirements: Ohio licensed Registered Nurse, with five years ED experience preferred. BSN and management experience preferred. ACLS/PALS certification. Must have good organization and communication skills, and ability to effectively manage day-to-day operations.

Pharmacy Technician
Part-Time (40 hours per pay)
Hours: Day shift, 7:30 am – 4 pm; weekend rotation

Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent required. Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Applicants should have clerical and computer skills, be able to understand math concepts, and have knowledge of medical terminology. Previous hospital pharmacy technician experience desirable.

Registration Clerk
Full-Time (75 hours per pay)
Hours: Combination of Day and Afternoon shifts and weekend and holiday rotation

Responsible for correct registration of patients into the hospital system, distribution of appropriate forms and notices, checking medical necessity criteria and authorizations for services. Scans patient information into system, mans switchboard, and Central Scheduling duties as applicable.

Requirements: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, work well with the public, possess good telephone etiquette and computer knowledge, and have the ability to multi-task. Previous office experience, insurance knowledge and knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.

Registered Nurse – MED/SURG (two positions available)

Must demonstrate effective communication skills, have the ability to make independent judgments, be able to prioritize and provide professional nursing care for assigned patients in the Medical/Surgical Unit. ACLS certification, or willingness to obtain, is required.

Utilization Review Registered Nurse
for Barnesville Hospital and Harrison Community Hospital
Full time
Hours: Day shift

Performs the activities prescribed by the Utilization Review plan, seeing services of the hospitals are being used appropriately. The position will collaborate with internal caregivers and various insurance providers, including Medicare, commercial and managed payers to complete concurrent reviews for approval of appropriate services. Additional responsibilities will include discharge planning, facilitating peer reviews and monitoring quality data. Other duties include reviewing medical records and preparing clinical appeals (when appropriate) on medical necessity, level of care, length of stay, and authorization denials for patients. An understanding and coordination of the care continuum are key, as the nurse must integrate clinical knowledge with billing knowledge to review, evaluate, and appeal clinical denials related to the care provided to the patient. The utilization nurse will work to assess and improve the denial management, documentation, and appeals process of such findings. The utilization review nurse will assist in all activities related to the monitoring, interpreting, and appealing of clinical denials received from third-party payers.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Must be a licensed RN in the State of Ohio. Must have knowledge of Utilization Review functions, Medical Record Review, and experience working with third party payer community. Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and personnel and be familiar with data collection. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills and exemplary customer service skills. Previous utilization review and discharge planning experience preferred or sufficient previous experience in clinical health care and/or the managed care industry.
