Responsibilities:  Orthotic fitter duties include making sure that medical braces, prosthetic limbs, arch supports and other medical devices properly fit patients by using equipment to help mold and alter the devices to the patients needs.  Monitor patients over time and make any necessary changes to the devices to keep them in good condition. Is competent to practice orthotics within a scope of practice that is specific to fitting certain custom fitted, prefabricated and off the shelf orthoses as Cervical orthoses, except those used to treat an unstable cervical condition, prefabricated orthoses for the upper and lower extremities  with some exceptions, prefabricated spinal orthoses, pressure gradient garments and trusses.

Educational Requirements:  Must have NCOPE approved orthotic fitter education course with current certification.  Applicants who do not possess the certification will be required to obtain within 3 months of hire date.   Must have at least one (1) year experience in customer service; experience in home medical equipment and patient care; Bilingual (English and Spanish) encouraged;   Extensive medical terminology and ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding highly preferred; prior experience in hospital or doctor’s office and DME experience preferred but not required.
