Back pain is common and sometimes difficult to identify the origin of pain. It can also be difficult to treat. But, some spinal compression fractures caused by osteoporosis, cancer, or trauma can now be treated with interventional radiology procedures.

WVU Medicine interventional radiologists use minimally invasive, image-guided techniques to relieve spinal pain, provide stability and strength, and restore mobility.

Untreated fractures can potentially lead to additional fractures. These procedures use orthopedic medical cement injected into the spine to reduce and relieve the pain.
