Below is a list of items that patients can bring with them when they are admitted.

It is important that all items are brought with the patient at the time of admission. This includes seasonal clothing. If additional clothing is required, Chestnut Ridge requests clothing vouchers twice a year.

Patients should not bring more than the number of items specified due to space issues.

Cash

  • No more than five dollars cash is permitted when admitted.

Outerwear

  • One light weight jacket
  • One winter coat
  • One pair of gloves

Headgear

  • One baseball cap
  • One toboggan

Shoes

  • One pair tennis shoes (good)
  • One pair tennis shoes (old )
  • One pair shower shoes (required)
  • One pair of sandals
  • One pair of winter boots
  • One pair of rubber soled cleats

Clothing

  • Nine pair of socks
  • Nine pair of underwear
  • One pair of thermal underwear
  • Seven T-shirts
  • Five non T-shirts (long sleeved button-up shirts)
  • Seven pair of shorts
  • One pair of khakis
  • Seven pair of jeans
  • Three sweatshirts
  • One pair of sweatpants
  • One pair swimming trunks

Accessories

  • One belt (required)
  • Watches (allowed)
  • Wallets (allowed)

Toiletries

  • Personal hygiene items (CRC can provide items if necessary)
  • Razor (electric and regular)
  • Shaving cream

Laundry Items

  • Laundry detergent
  • Fabric softener

School Supplies

  • Paper
  • Pencils / pens
  • Calculator
  • Notebooks for school and treatment work
  • Spiral notebooks and mechanical pencils are not allowed

Miscellaneous

  • Personal pillow and blanket
  • Radio with headphones
  • CD’s (CD’s are approved or denied by staff, and CD’s with a parental advisory attached are not allowed.)
  • Cassette tapes are not allowed
