WVU Orthopaedics
To meet the growing demand in West Virginia and surrounding states for complex orthopaedic care, WVU Medicine has designated a floor at its flagship, J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, as a 22-bed orthopaedic hospital. This hospital within a hospital complements WVU Medicine’s existing outpatient orthopaedic clinics.
The WVU Medicine Bone and Joint Hospital’s orthopaedic faculty provide state-of-the-art care to adults and children. Our team performs an array of complex orthopaedic surgical procedures, including total hip or knee replacement, by nationally recognized, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons.
We are the only hospital in West Virginia to offers MAKOplasty® partial knee resurfacing and total hip replacement procedures, performed using the RIO® Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System. RIO® is a surgeon-controlled robotic arm system that enables accurate alignment and placement of implants.
