Closed Angle Glaucoma
Some of these cases present with pain and vision loss and are true emergencies. Some others present without pain but with visual loss. Diabetes is a major cause of this type of closed angle glaucoma.
People with high eye pressures, abnormal eye findings or with a strong family history of glaucoma may be considered glaucoma suspects. Our state-of-the-art testing facility allows close surveillance of these people by which we may prevent visual loss from glaucoma.
Primary Open Angle Glaucoma
A condition that may result in permanent visual loss in which lowering the eye pressure is an important part of the treatment. People over the age of 50 are at risk but adults of any age can be tested. Our Eye Institute has the most modern testing facilities for glaucoma diagnosis and WVUHealthcare supports the latest advances in surgical treatment.
