Louis Serio, M.Div., JD
Lou was born and raised in Rhode Island. He is a United Church of Christ minister and is a certified ACPE Associate Supervisor. Before coming to West Virginia University Medicine, Lou trained for supervisor certification at Saint Luke’s Health Systems in Kansas City, Missouri. He previously served as a hospice chaplain and bereavement coordinator in New England for Beacon Hospice and Amedisys, Inc. He completed 2 residencies at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. His second year residency was focused on the spiritual care of people with co-occurring challenges of mental illness and addiction. Lou earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, with a minor in German, from the University of Massachusetts, a Juris Doctorate from Western New England University School of Law and the Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School, all in Massachusetts. He is married to Rev. Dr. Kimberly Serio. They have four adult children.
