In accordance with federal privacy laws, we are permitted to release one-word patient condition reports to the media. To obtain these reports, journalists must provide the correct spelling of the patient’s first and last names. Condition reports are only available for patients who have been admitted as inpatients. Condition reports cannot be provided for patients in the Emergency Department or those who were treated and released. There may be other times a condition report is unavailable.

The condition reports and their definitions, approved by the American Hospital Association, are:

  • Good – Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
  • Fair – Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious but may be uncomfortable. Indicators are favorable.
  • Serious – Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
  • Critical – Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.

If a patient chooses to opt out of the directory, we will be unable to provide a condition report or confirm the patient’s presence in the facility.
