 FTE:  0.8 FTE

 

POSITION SUMMARY:     The Glen Dale Pediatrics Physician Office Medical Assistant is a member of physician office team who is qualified by knowledge and training to carry out defined clinical duties under the direction of a physician and provide safe care to the patient.  Also may perform a variety of office-based tasks including scheduling, authorizations, and referrals. Works closely with physicians, pateints, insurers, other employees, and the general public.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
1. Must have knowledge of and use of computers, specifically for office clinical testing, patient result reporting, review of patient information and office scheduling.
2. Working knowledge of vital sign measurement, injection administration and body fluid specimen lab prep.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) is desired.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Previous experience in a physician office setting is strongly preferred.

1. Maintains strict adherence to, and compliance with, the Hospital’s Code of Ethical Behavior, Corporate Ethics Plan, Corporate Compliance Program, and all applicable Handbook Policies or Procedures.
2. Maintains the patients’ right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
3. Greets patients, can schedule patient appointments, and makes referrals upon request of the physician.
4. Places patients in exam rooms, interviews patients, obtains patient medical history, and takes patient vital signs.
5. Organizes medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and point-of-care testing needs.
6. Performs ECGs, injections and other medical procedures within qualifications upon direction of the physician.
7. Records all findings and procedures performed in the medical chart of the patients, both paper and electronic.
8. Communicates with payors/patients to secure authorization for additional medical procedures and/or referrals to another health care provider.
9. Demonstrates working knowledge of basic office functions including scheduling, filing chart preparation, and documentation.
10. Performs other clinical and office duties as assigned, including Reynolds Medical Group office rotation as needed.
