JOB TITLE PHYSICIAN OFFICE CLERK

REPORTS TO: PHYSICIAN AND PHYSICIAN PRACTICE MANAGER
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:     The Physician Office Family Practice Office Clerk greets patients, schedules appointments, receives and makes referrals, prepares medical charts, transcribes notes, and performs a variety of other office-based tasks. Works closely with patients, insurers, other employees, and ther general public.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Must have knowledge of computers, specifically billing programs, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High school education or equivalent is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Previous experience in physician office setting is preferred.

1. Maintains strict adherence to, and compliance with, the Hospital’s Code of Ethical Behavior, Corporate Ethics Plan, Corporate Compliance Program, and all applicable Handbook Policies or Procedures.
2. Greets patients, schedules patient appointments, receives and makes referrals upon request of the physician.
3. Maintains the patients’ right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
4. Prepares medical charts, registration forms, and updates patient demographic information.
5. Transcribes office notes from physician or other providers, makes and receives referrals for health services, at the request of the physician.
6. Obtain authorizations.
7. Attends mandatory inservice programs.
8. Attends work as scheduled.
9. Performs other clerical and office duties as assigned; including Reynolds Medical Group office rotation as needed.
