POSITION SUMMARY:     Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Project Coordinator participates in the conceptual development of facility projects and coordinates project and/or maintenance planning, organization, scheduling, and implementation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High School education or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of five years of facility planning and construction project management

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in planning or construction management (relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement)
EXPERIENCE:
1. Six to ten years of facility planning and construction project management

  1.             Participates in facilities planning activities. Provides advice and consultation for planning and design of improvements and capital construction projects.
  2.             Manages all phases of project development for large and/or complex construction and facility improvement projects.
  3.             Researches and makes recommendations on permitting and site planning of public facilities, land exchanges, right-of-ways, easements, and zoning changes.
  4.             Participates in the selection of vendors and contractors. Participates in defining the terms of contract agreements and ensures work is completed satisfactorily. Monitors the performance of contracts to ensure compliance with applicable specifications.
  5.             Monitors project budgets to identify potential financial overruns and variances; makes appropriate recommendations to alleviate financial implications.
  6.             Plans, prepares, monitors, and manages facility project budgets.
  7.             Positions in this classification may perform all or some of the responsibilities above and all positions perform other related duties as assigned.
  8.            Controls any number of projects at various stages of work. Reviews records of accounts and inputs entries into to proper accounts.
  9.            Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs and construction time.
 10.          Plans layouts of projects and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
 11.           Conducts periodic onsite observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
 12.           Prepares studies and reports.
 13.           Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment.
 14.           Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.

1. Work is generally performed in both an office and outdoor environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule.
