WVU students to dance the night away for WVU Children’s Hospital

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University students will put on their dancing shoes at noon on March 2 to raise money for WVU Children’s Hospital patients during the WVU Dance Marathon at Stansbury Hall.

Students are pledging to stay awake for 12 hours to raise money that could help save the lives of sick and injured children. During the event, a Zumba group, swing dancers, a few Mountaineer Idols and the WVU Mountaineer mascot will be stopping by. In addition, former WVU Children’s Hospital patients will be in attendance throughout the marathon to visit with the dancers.

This will be the 14th year the WVU Children’s Hospital has partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network to host the Dance Marathon. This year’s theme is “Saving the World One Kid at a Time.”

Last year, the student-organized event raised $30,000. Since 1999, WVU students have organized the marathon by recruiting volunteers, pledge sponsors and community members to participate in the event.

Any business or individual interested in underwriting the event should contact Lora Edgell, Children’s Miracle Network director for WVU Children’s Hospital, at 304-598-4346 ext. 2.
