WVU Nursing dean finalists announced

Each to visit campus in coming weeks

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four finalists have been selected for the post of dean of the West Virginia University School of Nursing. Elisabeth Shelton, R.N., Ph.D., has served as the School’s interim dean since October 2012.

They are:
  • Barbara J. Guthrie, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., Independence Foundation Professor of Nursing, Yale University School of Nursing
  • Chandice Y. Covington, Ph.D., P.N.P. (B.C.), F.A.A.N., professor and chairperson, Rush University College of Nursing
  • Tara F. Hulsey, Ph.D., R.N., C.N.E., F.A.A.N., dean and professor, Charleston Southern University College of Nursing and Allied Health
  • Sally J. Reel, Ph.D., R.N., F.N.P, F.A.A.N.P, F.A.A.N., University Distinguished Outreach Professor and associate dean for academic practice, The University of Arizona College of Nursing
As a part of the selection process, faculty, staff, and students will be invited to meet the candidates at open forums on the Health Sciences campus. Guthrie will visit Nov. 21; Covington, Dec. 2; and Hulsey, Dec. 19. Reel’s forum date will be held in January 2014.

Each scheduled forum will be at 4 p.m. in the HSC Learning Center, room 1905. A reception will follow each session in the Learning Center Commons.
