WVU Heart and Vascular Institute opens clinic in partnership with Garrett Regional Medical Center

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, in an effort to provide patients with high quality specialty care close to home, has opened a clinic in partnership with Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC).

Luke Marone, M.D., professor and chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery, and Jonathan Lanham, M.D., assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology, began seeing patients earlier this month at the clinic in Oakland, Md.

Dr. Marone joined the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute in April after serving as the director of peripheral vascular intervention and an associate professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He received his medical degree from Tufts University in Boston and completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital. Marone is board certified in surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Lanham officially joined the faculty on Sept. 1 after completing fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute. He received his medical degree from and completed an internal medicine residency at the WVU School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, and cardiovascular disease.

“It is our honor and privilege to partner with the outstanding physicians of Garrett Regional Medical Center to help develop cardiovascular services for the region,” Vinay Badhwar, M.D., executive chair of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, said. “Through this collaboration, we aim to provide the Garrett region of Western Maryland with unprecedented access to advanced heart and vascular therapies.”
