WVU Healthcare looking to fill 375 job openings

Nearly 500 new positions added in last 12 months

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The continued growth of WVU Healthcare has resulted in more than 1,300 new employees being hired in the last 12 months. Of those jobs, 500 new positions were added to meet the demands of the increasing numbers of people who choose WVU Healthcare for hospital and medical office care, while the other 800 hires were to replace turn over due to retirements and other departures.

Currently, 375 positions are available in all areas, including service, clerical, nursing, professional and clinical support.

“With the success of the open interview session held in January at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center, we have been able to bring in more than 100 new hires each month since the beginning of 2012,” Charlotte Bennett, WVU Healthcare vice president for human resources, said. “The nursing departments have hired almost 100 nurses who graduated in May and also brought in an additional 70 more experienced nurses during this year.”

If it receives Certificate of Need approval from the West Virginia Health Care Authority, the planned expansion of WVU Hospitals will add approximately 750 permanent jobs over the next five years.
