MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – There’s no place like home, but to adult patients and their families traveling to West Virginia University Hospitals for medical care, Rosenbaum Family House comes close, offering a soft pillow, comfy bed, hot meals and a warm welcome. Giving to support this much-needed service is now as easy as a few taps of the thumb, thanks to the Family House’s Text2Give initiative.
Simply texting the words “WVU Family” to 85944 from any mobile phone instantly makes a $10 donation to support the Rosenbaum Family House’s Expanding on Hope fundraising campaign.
Connected to WVU Healthcare's Ruby Memorial, the Family House is available to adult patients and their caregivers who live more than 50 miles from Morgantown. No family is turned away for inability to pay.
While here, each family is asked to pay $15 per night. It costs $40 per night per room to operate the Family House. Donations from guests and others make up the difference. Guests are permitted to stay as long as their patient is undergoing treatment.
“Being close to family is important in the healing process when experiencing a serious illness, and families travel far distances to be close to their loved ones,” Suzanne Likins, Rosenbaum Family House development specialist, said.
“The Expanding on Hope Campaign will not only serve more families, but will also enhance the environment for the people who stay at Rosenbaum Family House. The Text2Give campaign is a quick and convenient way to make a gift to the Rosenbaum Family House and support the expansion campaign,” she said.
