New rules effective Sunday, Jan. 20
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In an effort to prevent the spread of flu, WVU Healthcare has established a new visitor policy at Ruby Memorial Hospital, including WVU Children’s Hospital, beginning Sunday (Jan. 20).“While we have not experienced a high volume of flu cases, we’re doing this for the health and safety of our patients, our staff and the community at large,” Bruce McClymonds, president and CEO of WVU Hospitals, said. “The more we limit exposure to the flu, the less it will spread.”
Visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors will be limited to two per patient at any given time. Children under the age of 12 are discouraged from visiting the hospital. Those who have experienced flu symptoms for the previous 24 hours, particularly those who have had a fever, should not visit. Patients and visitors exhibiting cold or flu-like symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.
All visitors will be required to register and obtain a visitor’s badge before entering patient areas. The registration desk is on the first floor, east lobby at Ruby Memorial.
Special circumstances may occasionally occur when the rules may be waived.
