MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 18th Annual Lacy Neff Q for Kids Radiothon benefitting WVU Medicine Children’s will hit the airwaves live on Thursday, Nov. 17.
WVU Medicine Children’s, Children’s Miracle Network, WVAQ (101.9 FM), and WQZK (94.1 FM) will host the radiothon in the Activity Center of WVU Medicine Children’s, on the sixth floor of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, and will be broadcasting live from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 17 and 18. Toothman Ford is sponsoring the WVAQ broadcast.
Radio personalities will tell stories about children who have benefited from services provided by WVU Medicine Children’s. Patients are also scheduled to visit the radiothon to share their stories on air. To date, the radiothon has raised more than $1.5 million in support of WVU Medicine Children’s.
Change Bandits all across town counted down to the radiothon by collecting change, bills, and checks in their official Change Bandit bags for WVU Medicine Children’s. All Change Bandit bags were returned to MVB Bank on Friday, Nov. 11. A total MVB Bank Change Bandit check will be presented to WVU Medicine Children’s during the radiothon broadcast.
In 2015, more than 8,300 kids spent at least one night at WVU Medicine Children’s. Children received treatment in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department more than 7,900 times and underwent more than 3,500 surgeries. In total, families turned to WVU Medicine Children’s more than 199,000 times and found hope and healing.
