‘Hot dress or hot mess?’ March 6 at WVU Mountainlair
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Students in West Virginia University’s sororities and fraternities will participate in a fashion show that demonstrates the negative fashion choices people can engage in when alcohol is in the mix as well as positive choices students can make.“Hot dress or hot mess?” will be at 6:45 p.m. on March 6 in the Mountainlair Ballroom. Four grand prizes will be awarded: one for the best “hot dress” and one for the best “hot mess” outfit for each gender.
“The goal of the event is to increase awareness about the dangers of college students and spring break and to reach students in a way that is fun, relatable and informative while creating an awareness of an important problem on college campuses,” Ruth Kershner, Ed.D., professor in the WVU Department of Community Medicine, said.
The event also features the announcement of the spring break alcohol safety T-shirt contest winner, who will receive an iPad for his or her efforts to promote responsible drinking during spring break.
The fashion show is sponsored by the Department of Community Medicine, WVU sororities and fraternities, the WVU Community Medicine Student Association and WELLWVU.
All students, staff and faculty are welcomed to attend. Admission is free.
