Annual WVU Medicine September 5K strides into October

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU Medicine’s 23rd Annual September Stride, a 5K run and walk, is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. The event, organized by the WVU Medicine Rehabilitation Services Department, will begin and end in the Ruby Memorial Hospital parking lot.

Registration will run from 7:30-8:45 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m. Kids’ races – two short-distance races for younger children and a half-miler for the older ones – will start at 9:45 a.m. An awards presentation will follow.

Arts and crafts will be available for children all morning. Youngsters must be at least 1 year old to participate. Participation in children’s races and activities is free. Parents must register their children on race morning.

The race fee is $22 for the general public if postmarked by Friday, Oct. 9. After that and on race day, the cost is $27. The race fee includes a T-shirt (guaranteed to the first 200 participants) and prize drawings.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Richard Rosenbaum Memorial Fund, which provides medication and equipment to WVU Medicine patients with cystic fibrosis and other pulmonary problems.
