Presented to her on May 4 at the ATA Leadership Dinner and Awards, a part of the 2024 ATA Annual Conference, the award recognizes her dedication to advancing telehealth services within the WVU Health System and increasing quality and accessibility to patients across West Virginia.

“This honor is a symbol of the great work being done to leverage virtual care and that providers at WVU Medicine are leading many of these efforts, even at the national level,” McAllister said. “I am honored to be a part of this.”

Now in her 10th year with WVU Medicine, McAllister’s role includes working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including information technology, business, and clinical personnel, to ensure the most efficient work processes while keeping patient experience high and costs low. The effectiveness of these teams can be seen in the ever-growing telemedicine program throughout the WVU Health System.

“The most rewarding part of my job is seeing care delivery of WVU Medicine providers that would not have been possible if it was not done virtually, truly increasing access to high quality care,” McAllister said.

As for the future, McAllister said the goal of telemedicine is for it to just be medicine, a natural part of the care delivery system.
