Comprehensive Eye Exams

During a routine eye exam, one of our doctors will review your medical history and complete a series of tests to determine the health of your eyes.

Conditions and Diseases

Eye exams should be done periodically, using the following guidelines:

  • Children should have their eyes examined by age 3.
  • Up to age 20, exams should be scheduled as recommended by your doctor.
  • Between the ages of 20 – 40, every 5 years, unless you have vision changes, pain, flashes of light, new floaters or tearing, or if you injure your eyes
  • Between the ages of 40 – 60, every 2 to 4 years
  • Over the age of 65, every 1 to 2 years
  • African-Americans are more at-risk for glaucoma and should have eye exams every 3 to 5 years before the age of 40 and every 2 years after age 40.
