Why Build

Our only option is to grow

Grow-Childrens-Ground-BreakingNeeds are more diverse and greater than ever before. Patient volume continues to expand. WVU Medicine Children's at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital serves the state and region by providing tertiary (high-level care) and quaternary care (extended high-level care) for children of all ages. With more than 70 subspecialists, our physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers deliver outstanding care across all of the major specialties.

We are the comprehensive children’s and women’s hospital in our state – the best resource for every woman and child who seek help, regardless of their ability to pay.

The hospital has more than 17,500 admission and observation cases annually, and our four care units operate daily at an average capacity above 70 percent. At times, we have only a bed or two available. The ongoing escalation of cases demands that we grow and continue to provide high quality, convenient care statewide.

Four Units at 85% capacity.
