Please understand that, on occasion, visiting hours may be amended by physicians or nursing staff in order to best meet the needs of our individual patients. We thank you for your patience and support in these instances.
Berkeley Medical Center
In accordance with the best practice regarding hospital visitation due to influenza the following temporary changes will be observed.
For the time of the influenza outbreak as determined by continued positive cases through ED and other inlets to hospital, the visiting hours shall be as follows:
- Patient may have ONE visitor who is not visibly ill with them at all times if necessary for decision making/support.
- Otherwise visitation shall be limited to:
- 9-11 am (2 guests- to include the one permanent visitor)
- 5-7 pm (2 guests to include the one permanent visitor)
- At other times visitors are not allowed in the hospital. This is for the safety and well-being of staff and patients.
BMC reserves the right to ask any visitor who has symptoms of illness to leave for the best interest of all involved.

General hospital-wide visiting hours are from 12:30 p.m. ‒ 8:30 p.m. Exceptions to these hours are made in several specialty units. Those areas with amendments to the general hospital-wide visiting hours are as follows:
Oncology Unit — This unit allows for unrestricted visiting hours at the discretion of the Nursing Manager.
University Behavioral Health Unit —Visiting hours are limited to 1p.m. ‒ 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ‒ 8 p.m. daily. All visits must be pre-arranged through the University Behavioral Health staff at least one hour prior to these visiting hours. To reach the University Behavioral Health Unit, call 304-264-1230.
Pediatrics — Special arrangements are made for parents and siblings. Please see the Nursing staff for details.
Critical Care Unit — Frequent visits are individually arranged through the Nursing staff based on the patient’s condition, treatments, etc.
The Birthing Center —Special arrangements are made for fathers and siblings visiting The Birthing Center. Please see the Nursing staff for details.
