PROVIDERS

WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy is located at the Operations Support Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. Our clinical pharmacists and patient care coordinators manage authorization, fulfillment, and clinical follow-up for medications that treat a variety of complicated disease states. We are fully integrated with the WVU Medicine Epic electronic health record program, documenting all patient and payer interaction, so health system providers are never out of the loop. WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy is here to support you.

Prior authorization and financial assistance

Utilize our patient care coordinators to navigate financial hurdles for your patients. We perform prior authorization tasks so your staff can focus more closely on patient care. In addition to prior authorizations, our insurance specialists seek out supplementary funding from a variety of manufacturer assistance programs to minimize out-of-pocket costs to your patients.

Clinical support

Our team of clinical pharmacists provides medication education (i.e., administration, management of potential side effects, injection training, the importance of adherence, and more) to ensure patients are knowledgeable and comfortable with their medication to help improve compliance. We will do all we can to provide excellent patient care and ensure your patients achieve optimal clinical outcomes.

Communicate with ease

At WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy, we do not employ complicated, time-consuming phone trees. Live patient care coordinators will field your call, transferring you to a pharmacist if necessary. Secure email communication is also welcome.

Epic connectivity

We document our authorization, fulfillment, and clinical notes in the WVU Medicine Epic electronic health record program. WVU Medicine providers can reference our documentation at any time – no more guesswork about the status of prior authorization. If your practice doesn’t use Epic, don’t worry! WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy makes all patient documentation in our patient management software and can provide records at your request.
